“Dear Fellow Travelers,

I met Isaac Okumu in Nairobi in the fall of 2006. He was courteous and kind and we just walked around the city, seeing some sites of interest. He quickly put us at ease, for Nairobi, is exotic, unusual and a little rough around the edges. I met him through a Peace organization called SERVAS. After speaking with him a couple of days, he agreed to be our private guide through the backcountry of Kenya.

We stopped in cities and villages along the way, camped by Lake Victoria, did a game drive in Maasai Mara, and ended up staying in a small village on the Western Frontier the last few nights. The trip was custom tailored, relaxed and flexible. His guidance gave us a good perspective in that we were treated more as friends rather than as tourists. I look forward to visiting again and having more adventures with Isaac.”

Two friends and I went on safari with Village Life Safari in August 2010. Isaac Okumu, the owner of Village Life, was very accommodating in arranging for us the particular national parks we wanted to see. The time spent on safari with Isaac and the driver Geoffrey was very pleasant and educational. They were both able to spot and identify animals for us, and we had an excellent experience. In addition, Isaac is very committed to the Kenyan people, besides his own volunteering at a school, he can set up volunteer activities for visitors. We did not take advantage of this as we were already planning to volunteer at a friend’s clinic in Kenya, but I was impressed at his offering of more than the usual type of safari.
